E-Commerce Developer

The E-commerce Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) e-commerce technology ecosystem. This role demands a deep understanding of various commerce technologies, including; Commerce, Order Management, Merchant of Record (MOR), Fraud Management, Tax, and Payment Providers. Key skills include strong technical expertise, hands-on development, collaboration across teams, and a focus on optimizing system performance and resource management. Your Contribution: In this role you will Demonstrate a comprehensive grasp of architectural patterns and industry-standard development methodologies. Develop and implement the e-commerce ecosystem, including; B2C commerce platforms, order management, payment systems, tax, fraud, order tracking systems. Assess diverse architectural design paths to identify the most suitable solution based on metrics such as maintainability, scalability, performance, complexity, and implementation effort. Develop and maintain integrations between core order lifecycle systems, including Merchant of Record (MOR) solutions, warehouse and inventory management, ensuring seamless flow from order placement to fulfillment. Support the integration strategy for expanded commercial channels such as marketplaces, social commerce, and reseller platforms, ensuring robust architecture for expanding to omnichannel models. Ensure systems are optimized for performance, security, and compliance. Collaborate with team members, participate in code reviews, and follow best practices while assisting with feature development and solutioning. Collaborate with business, product, and IT teams to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives. In conjunction with Product Owner develop technical roadmaps that balance short-term needs with long-term goals to future-proof DTC platforms. Identify key dependencies across platforms to mitigate risks and avoid bottlenecks. Support efforts to modernize, maintain, and continuously improve system architecture for long-term stability, addressing performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities. Maintain up-to-date architecture documentation to support ongoing development and operational efforts. Determine various architecture design options and determine the best solution based on various parameters - maintainability, scalability, performance, complexity, effort, etc. Required Skills and Experience: 5+ years of experience in e-commerce development and delivery. Experience in implementing e-commerce solutions with high transaction volumes, particularly in global, multilingual implementations. Proficiency in development for Commerce Platforms, Payment Gateways, Fraud Prevention, MOR (Merchant of Record), and OMS (Order Management Systems). Deep understanding of web architectures , object-oriented design concepts, and data transfer mechanisms. Familiarity with e-commerce business models, KPIs, and challenges in multi-currency, multi-country, and multi-language setups. Solid understanding of best practices in commerce and ability to bring a consulting approach to help business solve issues and challenges Proven ability to analyze complex systems, develop data-driven solutions, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills suited for IT, marketing, and executive audiences. Must be able to work flexible hours to collaborate with a diversely distributed global IT and business team members Multi-tasking, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. In addition, preferable skills and behaviors include: Familiarity with platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Salesforce B2B Commerce, Globale, ESW, Narvar. Understanding of supporting technologies such as PIM (Product Information Management), DAM (Digital Asset Management), CDP (Customer Data Platform), and CMS (Content Management Systems), Marketing Automation, Web applications, search, web analytics, content targeting tools, Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and integration tools (Workato, MuleSoft). Working knowledge of modern integration technologies including SOAP/REST web services, API integrations, and event-driven architecture.
