Engineering Manager

In this role, you will help create the clarity, capability, and delivery conditions behind high-quality user-facing product development.</span></p><p><span>This is a great opportunity to increase your impact at a fast-moving audio company backed by Schibsted Media, and to work with teams that combine quality engineering, product thinking, and care for the listener experience.</span></p><h2><span>What you'll do</span></h2><ul><li><p><span>Lead, support, and develop a distributed group of iOS, Android, and Web engineers through coaching, feedback, growth planning, and clear role expectations.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Foster an inclusive and accountable environment where employees and consultants across locations have context and support.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Maintain visibility of capability, ownership, staffing needs, consultant dependency, and succession risks across the client-side engineering domain.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Support engineering strategy execution by partnering with product and tech leadership.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Surface technical debt, quality risks, release risks, infrastructure constraints, and operational needs early to enable informed decisions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strengthen engineering standards around maintainability, observability, security, performance, and operational excellence.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Help teams balance platform-specific excellence with cross-platform alignment where it improves user experience, delivery efficiency, quality, or maintainability.</span></p></li></ul><h2><span>What You Bring</span></h2><p><span>You combine people leadership with the technical understanding needed to support iOS, Android, Web, and user-facing product trade-offs. You create clarity in complex environments and help teams improve how they work.</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Experience leading, coaching, mentoring or developing engineers.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience working with distributed or hybrid engineering teams. Previous management experience in this setup is a plus.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Understanding of modern software delivery practices and the quality needs of user-facing products.</span></p></li><li><p>Understanding of mobile release processes and the quality assurance needs of mobile releases.</p></li><li><p><span>Ability to balance engineering standards with team autonomy.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ability to explain engineering trade-offs, risks, and constraints clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Clear communication and relationship-building skills.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Cost-conscious approach to staffing, tooling, infrastructure, and technical decisions.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Professional-level English communication skills.
